Katie Schaag is a writer and artist. Camp, melodrama, fantasy, artifice, and the grotesque aesthetically and tonally inflect her queer feminist deconstructions of the hysterical feminine archetype. Her work has been published by Ugly Ducking Presse, Yes Femmes, Metatron, Rabbit Catastrophe Press, Requited Journal, Vector Press, Nat. Brut, Oxeye Press, La Vague, and Word For/Word, staged at Hemsley Theatre, and exhibited at Woman Made Gallery, Co-Prosperity Sphere, Little Berlin, and elsewhere. In addition to her solo art practice she has a collaborative practice with SALYER + SCHAAG; their four-month participatory project "Performing MMoCA" was part of Madison Museum of Contemporary Art's 2016 Wisconsin Triennial. She recently earned her PhD in English Literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a specialization in performance studies and visual cultures and a minor in fine art and creative writing.
